The device is made with two options for recording in mind. You can use the standard Note Recording feature and hold it or place in on your desk and record. The Phone Call Recording feature lets you affix the device to the back of your mobile phone and record your calls (be mindful of your state’s rules regarding consent to record conversations!).
After following the simple pairing instructions, you are ready to go. You control recording from the mobile app. Start a recording and the device will pick up on the audio and transcribe. The AI magic can be seen in the mobile app (or the webapp if you prefer a desktop view). At a basic level you get the option to view the transcript. I found it to be quite accurate. But even better are the summary and mind map tabs. These summary is bulleted and quite accurate, similar to many other AI powered transcription products on the market. The Mind Map is created based on the summary, enhancing your visual understanding.
Built with portability in mind, you can take this device from your desk to a client meeting (as long as your client consents), ensuring you handy dandy transcriber is always within arm’s reach. The physical device and the mobile (or web) interface work in tandem, giving you the flexibility. Since Plaud Note requires the purchase of a physical device, you will need to purchase the physical product aside from any other subscription upgrades. The device is currently priced at $159. They will conduct sales. I was able to secure mine on Amazon Pride Day for $30 off. Subscription pricing is based on minutes used per month. You get 300 minutes per month with your device, and for an additional $12.99/mo you can get 1200 minutes. There are additional pricing options for additional minutes available in the app.
What Makes It A.I. Enabled?
Plaud utilizes ChatGPT and Claude, the leading powerful large language models, to process and analyze recorded audio. After recording, the AI transcribes the audio and generates summaries of the content. The AI can identify and label different speakers in a conversation and uses AI to create bullet points and professional templates for meetings. Users can ask questions about their notes using natural language, such as “What do I need to deliver on my client’s project?” The AI can generate mind-maps based on the recorded content, providing visual representations of the information. Additionally, the AI assists in identifying action items and next steps from recorded meetings.
Security & Privacy
When it comes to client confidentiality, Plaud passes the sniff test. The platform uses end-to-end encryption, ensuring that both in-transit and at-rest data are secure. More importantly, Plaud promises not to use any of your firm’s sensitive information to train its AI models—a critical factor in avoiding those late-night sweats over whether your client’s data is secure.
