Favorite law firm use cases:  Accurate deposition transcripts; Real-time summaries; Case building insights

Features & Functionality

Skribe‘s platform is built around two main components: Skribe Live and Skribe Library. Skribe Live allows attorneys to host and capture depositions and hearings directly within the platform, integrating seamlessly with Zoom for remote proceedings. This feature eliminates the need for external court reporters or videographers, significantly reducing coordination efforts and costs.

Skribe Library serves as a centralized repository for audio and video files. Users can easily upload, search, and organize their preexisting video files, gaining instant access to A.I.-generated transcripts. This functionality is particularly useful for legal teams dealing with large volumes of already recorded testimony.

The interface is incredibly easy to navigate. Upon login you see a Matters database where you can upload and manage your files. I love the clean interface.

At the core of Skribe‘s functionality is its Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology, which powers its real time transcription capabilities. This advanced A.I. model understands a wide range of words, contexts, and usage patterns, enabling it to generate highly accurate transcripts quickly. Within minutes of uploading audio or video files, users can access rough A.I.-generated transcripts, which are then synced with the official video record. I was highly impressed by the demo transcription you can see below. The quality of the transcription is solid. The time stamping and search capabilities are superb.

A key A.I. enabled feature is the interface to the right of the transcription and video recording where Skribe has included a generative A.I. powered interface that will analyze the transcript. This advanced chat feature will automatically identify key moments in testimony, summarize depositions, and can even answer complex queries about the content. This functionality enables you to analyze the transcript with unprecedented speed and precision, providing a significant competitive advantage over a standard transcription service. You can go so far as generating sample questions or strategic follow-ups on the fly and evaluate performance in real-time to refine strategies mid-session.

Another one of Skribe’s standout features is its video integration and editing capabilities. The platform allows users to create and share video clips independently, without relying on third-party editors. Attorneys can pinpoint key moments in testimony, create clips, and share them with colleagues or clients using a simple URL, enhancing collaboration and case preparation. I observed it to be a very fluid and easy to use feature.

And of course you may be asking yourself, what about the transcripts? Skribe’s solution is not only more efficient but also more cost-effective than traditional court reporting services. It offers same-day access to rough transcripts using Live or Library, as you can see below.

And when you use Live, you get final transcripts within about a week. This is due to review and formatting that must be done by skilled humans (no A.I. there), which is still significantly faster than conventional methods. See the example of the look below.

The Skribe experience is easy and extremely cost effective compared to traditional transcription services. It is important to note that Skribe currently only integrates with Zoom. However, considering estimates show Zoom is used by over 50% of attorneys, and is heavily used by litigators, it’s likely you have access to a Zoom account, so thus far it is a solid plan by the founding team. It’s easy to see how Skribe can save attorneys countless hours and dollars in review and preparation of deposition transcripts and deliver actionable insights in real time.

Pricing & Plans

Skribe has two main priced offerings and a few add on features. There is the Live product that captures legal testimony, billing by the tenth of an hour (6-minute increments). Skribe charges $349 per recorded hour for their Live service, which includes same-day rough transcripts and final transcripts delivered within 3-5 days (A.I. generates a rough draft which is formatted and checked in order to deliver a final version). This pricing model is designed to be more cost-effective than traditional court reporting services (with one law firm reporting savings of over $150,000 in a single year). If you already have your own recorded testimony, you can use the Library feature and upload the video file and Skribe will also provide a rough transcript and the ability to create clips, just like with the Live recording, but for only $99 per recorded hour. Skribe has some add ons like rush service, interpreters and Library proofreading as well you may want to consider.

What Makes It A.I. Enabled?

Skribe uses proven Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) technology to generate accurate transcripts from audio and video recordings. This AI-powered transcription can achieve up to 98% accuracy, providing quick rough drafts of testimony. The platform employs AI to synchronize transcripts with video recordings, allowing users to easily navigate through testimony by linking text to specific moments in the video. Skribe incorporates generative AI capabilities using OpenAI’s GPT-4o for post-event analysis. This feature can automatically identify key moments, summarize depositions, and answer complex queries about the testimony content. The AI analyzes the transcribed content for tone, engagement, and other factors, providing insights to users about the quality and impact of the testimony. Skribe’s AI offers recommendations for improving grammar, style, and overall readability of the transcripts.

Security & Privacy

Given the confidential nature of legal work hits the mark in what you need. It is a product originally developed by co-founders in the form of a practicing litigator and a former court reporting company owner. They take security and privacy very seriously. Skribe employs end-to-end encryption for all data. Transcripts are securely stored, and its privacy policy clearly states that user data is not leveraged for training AI models unless explicitly authorized. These safeguards ensure compliance with legal ethics and data privacy standards.

The Judgement

By combining video technology, AI, and cloud-based solutions, Skribe provides a comprehensive platform that not only captures and transcribes testimony but also enhances the entire legal workflow surrounding depositions. Its ability to analyze testimony, organize files, and deliver actionable insights makes it an invaluable tool for litigators, ultimately leading to faster case timelines, and more successful outcomes. Give it a test drive.
